Celebrate the King’s Birthday in style at Sydney’s iconic Government House, also known as the ‘Castle by the Harbour’. This family-friendly event offers a delightful mix of live music, vintage cars, and interactive experiences that will captivate both parents and children alike.
Enjoy the vibrant sounds of the NSW Police Big Band on the Eastern Terrace and a vocalist and pianist from the Australian Army Band in the Drawing Room. Take in the historic atmosphere as you explore the spectacular State Rooms and see the dining table elegantly set for a Vice-Regal occasion.
There’s plenty to keep the kids entertained, including meeting Guide Dogs and their handlers, discovering the Garden Sculpture Walk, and snapping a selfie with the impressive 2-metre King’s Cypher.
The event runs from 10:00 to 15:00 on Sunday, 7 June 2026. Entry is completely free, making it a perfect budget-friendly outing for families.
Normanhurst Scouts will be fundraising with their famous Sausage Sizzle, and cold drinks will be available for purchase, so you can enjoy a picnic in the beautiful gardens.
Please note there is no parking on site, so plan to arrive on foot or by public transport.
Government House is located on Macquarie Street, Sydney NSW 2000. Access is on foot via the Main Gate at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music on Macquarie Street.
