What to Expect
Get ready for a fun and inclusive skateboarding experience designed especially for children and young people. These workshops are perfect for beginners eager to learn how to skate, stop, and turn with confidence. Led by experienced instructors, the sessions focus on skill development, safety, and social interaction through games.
Each session encourages participants to build confidence while learning important aspects of skateboarding such as injury prevention, skate park etiquette, and equipment maintenance. All equipment is provided, so just bring your enthusiasm and get ready to roll!
The workshops are part of the school holiday program in partnership with YMCA Skateboard, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all skill levels.
Activity Details
The workshops run for approximately 60 minutes each, with two sessions scheduled each day. The planned dates and times were:
- Friday 16 January 2026 at 10:00 and 11:00
- Friday 23 January 2026 at 10:00 and 11:00
- Friday 30 January 2026 at 16:00 and 17:00
No prior experience is necessary, making this a great opportunity for children to try something new and active during the school holidays.
Location and Access
The sessions take place at George Whittle Reserve Skate Park, located at 56 Churchill Road, Prospect SA 5082. This accessible skate park offers a safe space for children to learn and practice skateboarding skills.
Parents can easily drop off and pick up their children at this well-known local venue, which is equipped to support community sports and activities.

Due to severe weather conditions, this event has been cancelled. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and encourage families to stay tuned for future opportunities.
Participants were advised to book their preferred session by selecting the Prospect Skate Park location and desired time and date online.
All equipment was provided on the day, so there was no need to bring personal skateboards or protective gear.
