Experience a heartwarming way to connect with others through the simple act of writing and exchanging anonymous letters. This project offers a safe, low-pressure environment for participants to share thoughts and kindness without revealing personal details.
Set in the welcoming Frankston Library, you’ll find a dedicated space to write your letters and a special letterbox to post and receive correspondence. It’s a meaningful activity designed to foster connection and community spirit.
Whether you’re new to letter writing or a seasoned pen pal, this project invites everyone to participate and enjoy the joy of handwritten communication.
The Letterbox Project runs weekly on Tuesdays from 10:30 to 11:30 AM, starting on 4 August 2026 and continuing through 27 October 2026. Each session provides guidance and information to help you get started.
Participants write short anonymous letters which are exchanged through the library, ensuring privacy and safety. You can also choose to respond to letters you receive, deepening the connection.
No registration is required, just drop in and join the community of letter writers during these scheduled times.
The project is hosted at Frankston Library, located at 60 Playne Street, Frankston, 3199. The library is easily accessible and offers a comfortable space for writing and posting letters.
There is a designated area within the library for the Letterbox Project, including a special letterbox for posting and receiving letters.
Public transport and parking options are available nearby, making it convenient for families and individuals to attend.
This project is part of Frankston City Council’s Positive Ageing initiatives and is held during Loneliness Awareness Week to promote social connection.
All letters are handled anonymously by the library staff, ensuring no personal information is shared.
