Lights Up Kids Fest is a lively and engaging performing arts festival designed especially for children aged 5 to 12. Set in the welcoming Flight Path Theatre in Marrickville, this event invites young creatives to explore drama, music, and dance through a variety of exciting activities.
Children will be captivated by the world premiere of "Mooncake," a brand new puppetry show by Shiny Heart Productions. They can also participate in hands-on workshops led by professional artists, including puppetry, drama, musical theatre, improv and comedy, and songwriting with Toy Choir. No prior experience is needed, making it perfect for beginners and budding performers alike.
The festival runs from Wednesday to Friday during the spring school holidays, with a special Performing Arts Holiday Camp available. The camp operates from 9:00 to 15:00 on Wednesday and Thursday, and 9:00 to 12:00 on Friday, providing a full immersion experience. Each child attending the camp receives a free ukulele to take home. Additionally, the Inner West Talent Quest offers children the chance to perform solo, duo, or group acts in singing, dancing, acting, or playing music, with $1,000 in prizes up for grabs.
All events take place at Flight Path Theatre, located at 9b/142 Addison Road, Marrickville NSW 2204. The venue is accessible and family-friendly, situated in the Inner West area, making it convenient for local families to attend.
This is an annual festival presented by Shiny Heart Productions and Flight Path Theatre, supported by Inner West Council. It is designed to encourage children to express themselves creatively and enjoy the performing arts in a supportive environment. The festival welcomes children of all skill levels and backgrounds.
Tickets start from $15, with some activities such as the Inner West Talent Quest being free to enter. Booking in advance is recommended to secure spots in workshops and the holiday camp. For more details and ticket purchases, visit the official website or contact the organisers directly.
