A free literacy program designed to help primary school children in years 2, 3, and 4 improve their reading and writing skills at Whitlam Library.


What to Expect

This engaging literacy support program is tailored specifically for children in years 2, 3, and 4, providing them with focused assistance in reading and writing. It is an excellent opportunity for your child to build confidence and improve literacy skills in a supportive environment.

Participants are encouraged to bring a notebook and pencil to each session to make the most of the learning experience. The sessions are interactive and designed to keep children motivated and involved.

The program runs throughout term 2, offering consistent support over multiple weeks to help reinforce learning and track progress.

Activity Details

The program consists of weekly sessions starting from July 22, 2025, through to September 23, 2025. Each session lasts 1.5 hours, from 16:00 to 17:30.

Attendance at the first session is essential; those who register but do not attend the initial class will have their bookings cancelled to allow other children to participate.

Registration is required for all sessions, and it is recommended that attendees are members of the Fairfield City Open Libraries. Membership is free and open to everyone.

Location and Access

The sessions take place at Whitlam Library, located at 165 Railway Parade, Cabramatta 2166. The library is accessible and provides a welcoming environment for children and their guardians.

Guardians of children under 12 are required to remain on the library premises during the program, ensuring safety and support.

Public transport options and parking are available near the library, making it convenient for families to attend.

Important Information

Guardians must be at least 16 years old and remain on-site for the duration of the program if accompanying children under 12.

The program maintains a respectful and positive atmosphere; inappropriate behavior by attendees or guardians may result in removal from the sessions.

Photography may occur during the event for promotional purposes; attendees can notify staff if they do not consent to being photographed.

Please refrain from attending if experiencing illness or COVID-19 symptoms to ensure the health and safety of all participants.

Booking and Prices

This program is free of charge. Booking is essential and managed via Eventbrite.

A confirmation text will be sent 24 hours before the event to confirm attendance. If unable to attend, please cancel your booking to free spots for others.

Failure to attend without notification may affect future booking privileges.
