Step into a world of creativity where little ones can experiment with art inspired by the fascinating exhibitions at HOTA Gallery. This workshop invites children aged 3 to 5 years to explore costumes, camouflage, and self-expression through hands-on activities alongside their parents or carers. Imagine blending into your surroundings by mimicking the colours and textures of nature, just like in the captivating photographic prints on display.
Through playful use of fabrics, craft materials, masks, and costumes, children will discover new ways to present themselves and express their identities. With a little help from grown-ups, they will use digital cameras to capture images that explore camouflage and abstraction, creating memorable keepsakes.
This is a wonderful opportunity to engage your child’s imagination and creativity in a supportive environment, encouraging exploration of art and nature together.
The workshop runs for one hour, from 10:30 to 11:30 AM on Friday, 15 May 2026. It is designed specifically for children aged 3 to 5 years, who must be accompanied by an adult or carer at all times. Participants will use a variety of fabrics and craft supplies to create costumes and masks, then photograph their creations with digital cameras provided.
Each child will receive an instant print of their favourite image to take home, making this a tangible and lasting memory of their artistic adventure. The activity complements the current "Beneath the Surface" exhibition at HOTA Gallery, enhancing the experience by connecting art with hands-on creativity.
The event takes place at HOTA Gallery, located at 135 Bundall Road, Surfers Paradise, 4217. The gallery is easily accessible by public transport, and attendees are encouraged to plan their trip using Translink's journey planner for convenience.

Children must be accompanied by an adult or carer and cannot be left unsupervised during the workshop. The workshop fee includes entry for both child and accompanying adult.
