Little lyrebirds: Royal National Park

This specially designed nature play program invites children aged 2 to 6 years to explore the sights and sounds of the bush, fostering creativity, problem-solving, and friendship in a safe and engaging environment.

What to Expect

Join a guided tour that encourages children to investigate the natural world around them, listening to the music of the bush and learning through hands-on activities. The program is tailored for little ones, with easy terrain and interactive experiences that captivate their curiosity and imagination.

Children will enjoy walking short distances, squatting, and reaching to pick up objects, all while accompanied by an adult. This is a wonderful opportunity to introduce your child to the outdoors and help them develop an appreciation for nature from an early age.

Activity Details

- Suitable for children aged 2 to 6 years.

- Tours run on Wednesdays and Thursdays during school holidays: 8-30 January, 16-24 April, 9-17 July, and 1-9 October 2025.

- Tour time is from 10:00 to 10:45, with a meeting time at 9:50.

- Easy grade on flat terrain.

Location and Access

The tours take place at the Ironbark Flat picnic area within Royal National Park. The meeting point is the Royal National Park Visitor Centre at Audley. The park is accessible and suitable for families with young children.

Important Information

Please ensure children wear enclosed shoes and bring a hat, drinking water, raincoat, and sunscreen to stay comfortable and protected. All children must be accompanied by an adult, and park entry fees apply separately.

Bookings are required and can be made by calling 1300 072 757 or booking online. The cost is $10 per child aged 2 to 6 years, with adults attending free of charge. Park entry fees of $12 per vehicle per day apply separately, with various payment options available including the Park’nPay app.
