Celebrate the vibrant and joyous Lunar New Year 2026 as we welcome the Year of the Fire Horse at Auburn Park. This event is a wonderful opportunity for families to immerse themselves in rich cultural traditions and enjoy an evening filled with entertainment and community spirit.
Experience a lively celebration featuring a diverse program of music, dance, and storytelling that honors Lunar New Year traditions. Enjoy performances such as Korean drumming, lion dancers, and traditional dances from the Han & Tang dynasties. The event is designed to be family-friendly and inclusive, with activities and entertainment for all ages.
The celebration runs from 17:00 to 21:00 on Saturday, 21 February 2026. Highlights include a Welcome to Country, a variety of cultural performances, a mayoral address, and a spectacular firecracker finale. Food vendors will offer a range of tasty and affordable options catering to various dietary needs, including vegan and gluten-free.
The event takes place at Auburn Park, located at Hutchinson Street and Macquarie Road, Auburn. Public transport is recommended, with Auburn Train Station just a 10-minute walk away. Parking is limited but available on surrounding streets; please respect parking signs and residents' driveways. The venue is fully accessible with wheelchair access, accessible bathrooms, and dedicated accessible parking.
This is an alcohol-free event and smoking or vaping is discouraged. Attendees cannot bring shade shelters or marquees for safety reasons. Pets are welcome, and prohibited items include airhorns, silly string, gang-related clothing, glass, fireworks, illegal substances, and weapons. In case of adverse weather, the event may be cancelled or postponed with notifications via council social media.
This event is free to attend with no tickets or registration required. All stallholders accept cashless payments as no ATMs are available onsite. For lost property, contact event staff or email the council. Stallholder applications are closed for this event but future opportunities are available through council channels.
