What to Expect
Step into a vibrant Makers Space designed for creatives of all ages to explore, create, and connect. Led by Ngiyampaa and Guringai weaver and curator Tarni Eastwood, this program blends traditional weaving techniques with rich First Nations knowledge and storytelling.
Visitors can touch and feel the crafted objects, sit comfortably on mats, and engage hands-on in creative activities. This welcoming environment encourages reflection, play, and cultural appreciation.
Ideal for families and individuals, some activities are best suited for children aged 5 and above, making it a perfect outing for parents looking to inspire their school-aged children.
Activity Details
The Makers Space is a year-round program hosted at the Leo Kelly Blacktown Arts Centre. Tarni Eastwood’s workshops focus on weaving and cultural sharing, providing an educational and immersive experience.
Participants will learn about traditional weaving methods and the stories behind the art, fostering a deeper understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage.
The space is curated by Talia Smith with concept development by Louisa Minutillo, ensuring a thoughtful and engaging creative environment.
