You will work alongside Council's Bushcare officer in a supportive and welcoming environment, tackling invasive weeds and planting native species that thrive in coastal conditions. It's a rewarding way to spend a morning outdoors, fostering a love of nature in your children.

The bushcare sessions are held monthly on the first Tuesday, from 09:00 to 12:00, running until 1 December 2026. Volunteers focus on managing weeds such as Salpichroa and Acetosa and planting local indigenous flora along the foreshore.
The site is located on the southern section of Long Bay, home to the endangered Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub (ESBS). This unique ecosystem benefits greatly from community care and conservation efforts.
Volunteers will receive guidance and support from experienced Council staff, ensuring a safe and educational experience for all ages.
The sessions take place on the grass area opposite 9 Bay Parade, Malabar, easily accessible for families living in or visiting the Randwick area.
This coastal site is exposed to onshore winds, so appropriate clothing and sun protection are recommended. The natural setting offers a beautiful backdrop for outdoor learning and community connection.
