What to Expect
Spring is the perfect time to tidy up your garden, and this weekend offers a fantastic opportunity to dispose of your green waste at no cost. This event is designed exclusively for Mornington Peninsula Shire residents and ratepayers, making it a great way to responsibly manage your garden waste without the usual fees.
Expect a busy site as many locals take advantage of this free service, so some delays are likely, especially during peak morning and late afternoon times. Remember to bring proof of residency such as a driver’s license or rates notice to access the service.
Green waste accepted includes all types of garden waste and untreated timber, with a limit of three cubic metres per trip. Commercial green waste will not be accepted, ensuring the event focuses on residential needs.
Activity Details
This no-charge green waste weekend runs from Friday, 20 March 2026 at 08:00 until Sunday, 22 March 2026 at 17:00. The Tyabb Resource Recovery Centre will be open during these times with specific opening hours: Friday 8am to 4pm, Saturday and Sunday 8am to 5pm.
Please note that to ensure the site closes on time, customers may be prevented from joining queues after 15:30 on weekends and public holidays, and after 14:30 on weekdays.
If you regularly dispose of green waste, consider opting in for a 240-litre fortnightly green and food waste bin collection service available to residents in the urban areas of the Shire.
