Mend in Public Day is a unique and engaging event where you can bring your loved clothes and learn how to repair them. This is a perfect opportunity for parents and children to discover the art of mending, from resewing buttons to patching holes, helping clothes last longer and reducing waste.
You'll be guided by an experienced mender who will share practical skills and tips. The event encourages creativity and sustainability, making it a fun and meaningful activity for the whole family.
By participating, you become part of a global movement during Fashion Revolution Week, advocating for a cleaner, fairer, and safer fashion industry.
The event takes place on Sunday, 26 April 2026, from 14:00 to 16:30. Bring along your own clothing items and any mending tools you have, although some supplies will be available on-site.
This hands-on workshop is designed to be accessible for all skill levels, including beginners and children accompanied by parents. It’s a great way to teach kids about sustainability and the value of repairing rather than discarding.
The session will cover essential mending techniques such as darning, patching, and button sewing, ensuring you leave with new skills to care for your wardrobe.
The event is held at 26 Louisa Street, Coburg, a community-friendly venue with easy access by public transport and parking nearby.
Coburg is a vibrant suburb with plenty of amenities, making it convenient for families to combine the event with other local activities.
The venue is welcoming and inclusive, ensuring a comfortable environment for parents and children to learn and connect.
Please bring your own clothing items that need mending and any personal sewing tools you prefer to use. While some mending supplies will be provided, they may be limited.
This is a family-friendly event, but children should be supervised by an adult at all times for safety.
Participation supports the global Fashion Revolution movement, promoting sustainability and mindful consumption.
The event is free to attend, but registration is required via Eventbrite to secure your spot.
Booking early is recommended as spaces may be limited.
