What to Expect
MiniRoos Kick-Off and MiniTillies are specially designed introductory football programs for young children aged 4-5 years. These sessions use short, game-based activities to introduce football in a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment. Your child will learn new skills, stay active, and make lifelong friends while having a blast on the field.
Qualified coaches lead all sessions, ensuring a safe and engaging experience for every participant. The programs run for 6-8 weeks with each session lasting 45 minutes, perfect for young attention spans and busy family schedules.
Participants receive a special participant pack from Football Australia when registering as new players, along with personal accident insurance included in the registration fee.
Activity Details
The programs run from April through August 2026, with sessions held twice weekly on either Tuesdays or Thursdays from 16:00 to 16:45. Each program consists of 15 sessions, excluding school holiday breaks in early to mid-July.
MiniRoos Kick-Off welcomes both new and returning players, while MiniTillies offers a girls-only option for those who prefer a single-gender environment. No prior experience or equipment is needed, and children can sign up with friends or independently.
The cost for participation is $250, with a $35 discount for returning players who registered for the earlier 2026 sessions.
Location and Access
All sessions take place at the Glover St Sporting Fields, a well-maintained and accessible venue ideal for young children’s sports activities. The location provides ample space for safe play and easy drop-off and pick-up for parents.
Families can enjoy the welcoming community atmosphere of the Balmain & District Football Club, which acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land, the Gadigal-Wangal people of the Eora Nation.
Public transport options and parking facilities are available nearby, making attendance convenient for local families.
Important Information
Please note there will be no sessions on July 7, 9, 14, and 16 due to school holidays. This break allows families to enjoy the holidays while keeping the program fresh and exciting.
New players receive a program kit as part of their registration, which is a Football Australia mandate. Returning players benefit from a discounted fee.
Safety is a priority; all participants are covered by personal accident insurance included in the registration fee.
