This engaging workshop invites young people to explore their identity, culture, and lived experiences through the powerful medium of music. Led by First Nations artist and youth worker Eskatology, participants will connect traditional Aboriginal oral storytelling with modern hip-hop lyricism, creating authentic and meaningful expressions.
Over two days, attendees will dive into songwriting and recording, gaining confidence and cultural pride while developing literacy and communication skills. This inclusive event welcomes both First Nations and non-First Nations youth to share in a supportive and creative environment.
Expect a vibrant, safe space where creativity flows freely and stories come alive through rhythm and lyrics.
The workshop runs for two consecutive days:
- Thursday 9th July 2026, 10:30am to 12:30pm: Song Writing session focusing on rhythm, flow, and lyric composition.
- Friday 10th July 2026, 10:30am to 12:30pm: Recording session where participants can perform or record their original work.
Participants will explore themes such as resilience, strength, legacy, and connection, all aligned with NAIDOC Week values. By the end, they will have created their own song or piece of writing and may choose to share their work to celebrate achievement and belonging.
