Experience a vibrant celebration of culture and community during NAIDOC Week with this special workshop. Engage with local First Nations Elder Aunty Maxine and artist Charlotte Ryan, who bring stories and traditions to life through weaving and face painting. This event offers a unique opportunity for families to connect with Indigenous heritage in a welcoming environment.
Participants of all ages will enjoy hands-on activities that foster creativity and cultural understanding. All materials for weaving and face painting are provided, so just bring your enthusiasm and curiosity.
This workshop is designed to be inclusive and engaging, making it perfect for parents looking to introduce their children to Indigenous culture in a fun and interactive way.
The workshop runs on Monday, 2026-07-13, from 14:00 to 16:00 at Lionel Bowen Library in Maroubra. It is suitable for children aged 3 years and above for face painting, and 10 years and above for weaving.
Parental supervision is required for children under 12, and youth aged 12 to 18 must be signed in and out by a parent or carer. Participants must be library members, but membership is free and easy to obtain online or at any branch.
Bookings are essential and limited to two tickets per booking to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
