Take a mindful break from your busy life and immerse yourself in a calming workshop that blends creativity with nature. This session invites you to slow down, observe, and express your connection to the natural world through journaling.
You will learn how to create and bind your own journal using simple, accessible materials and techniques. Once your journal is complete, the experience continues outdoors where you will engage in nature journaling—sketching, writing, and observing to deepen your appreciation of the environment.
This workshop is perfect for parents looking for a peaceful, creative outlet and a chance to connect with like-minded community members.
The workshop is guided by local artist Rebecca Prince, who will provide step-by-step instructions on making your own handmade journal. You will then be encouraged to explore nature journaling, a practice known to support mental wellbeing and creative expression.
This session is suitable for beginners and those wanting to reignite their creative spark. It offers a welcoming and supportive environment where you can learn new skills and take home a beautiful journal.
The workshop runs for 1.5 hours, providing ample time for both crafting and outdoor journaling activities.
The event takes place at the Torrens Valley Community Centre, located at 45 Albert St, Gumeracha SA 5233. The centre is part of the Community Hub, which includes the Gumeracha Town Hall and library.
Parking is available in three areas around the community hub, including two electric vehicle charging spots and a disabled parking space at the rear. There is also ample parking near the Gumeracha sporting oval for buses or mini vans.
The venue is fully accessible with wheelchair ramps, disabled toilets inside and outside, and a wide double door entrance. The centre is inclusive and welcoming to all, including LGBTQI+ community members and breastfeeding parents.
The community centre operates Monday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and is closed on Fridays and public holidays. In case of Extreme or Catastrophic Fire Danger Ratings for the Mt Lofty Ranges, the centre will close and classes will be cancelled with refunds or rescheduling offered.
Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather and bring a torch or phone light if attending evening events. Facilities include toilets, baby change tables, a fully equipped kitchen, and refreshments such as water and hot drinks are available.
This is a safe and inclusive space designed to nurture mental wellbeing and social connection.
Tickets cost $25 and must be booked online. This fee covers all materials needed for the journal-making and the guided nature journaling experience.
Booking early is recommended as spaces are limited to ensure a comfortable and engaging workshop environment.
