Join a memorable night spotlighting adventure at Warriewood Wetlands designed for families who love wildlife and the outdoors. This guided tour brings children and parents face to face with the hidden creatures of the night, offering hands on learning and great photo moments while being mindful of the environment.
What to Expect
As dusk falls you will walk quiet trails with an experienced local guide who will use high powered spotlights to reveal nocturnal wildlife. The pace is gentle and designed for school aged children and their parents, making it a relaxing and exciting evening outing.
You may see a range of animals including:
- Powerful owls and other nocturnal birds
- Marsupials, microbats and calling frogs
- Smaller night active creatures in reeds and water edges
The guide will explain animal behaviour and habitat conservation in simple, engaging ways so parents can extend learning after the event. This is ideal for families who want an educational outdoor activity and wildlife photography opportunities.
Activity Details
The Night Spotlight Tour runs for approximately two hours and is led by trained guides from the Coastal Environment Centre, who focus on local ecology and conservation. The tour is suitable for school aged children accompanied by an adult and adult supervision is required at all times.
Expect interpretive talk stops, gentle walking on uneven paths, and opportunities to ask questions about local ecosystems and wildlife. The event is family friendly but not stroller friendly due to natural trails.
Spaces are limited and bookings are essential. The program supports environmental education and encourages curiosity in children while promoting respect for natural habitats.
Location and Access
The meeting point is at Warriewood Wetlands, Katoa Close, Warriewood NSW 2102. The Wetlands are part of the Northern Beaches coastal environment and provide easy reference for GPS and maps.
There is limited on site parking; parents may prefer to carpool or check local parking restrictions. Public transport options may require a short walk to the wetlands entry, so plan arrival times accordingly.
The site has natural trails and boardwalks in places, so allow extra time to reach the meeting spot. The Coastal Environment Centre will provide final meeting directions with your booking confirmation.
