Immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage of the Noongar people through these engaging language classes. Whether you are a language enthusiast or a cultural explorer, this series offers a unique opportunity to learn from Dylan Collard, a respected Whadjuk and Ballardong Noongar teacher. The sessions are designed for adults aged 18 and over, providing a welcoming environment to connect with Indigenous language and culture.
This course consists of five weekly sessions held on Sundays from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, starting on 2026-05-23 and concluding on 2026-06-27. Each session will focus on different aspects of the Noongar language, helping participants build their vocabulary and understanding progressively. The cost for the entire series is $25, making it an affordable way to deepen your cultural knowledge.
Classes take place at the Spearwood Public Library, located at 9 Coleville Crescent, Spearwood 6163 WA. The venue is equipped with accessible toilets, ACROD parking, free parking, and public toilets to ensure comfort and convenience for all attendees. The library also offers additional accessibility features such as in-map voice and accessible colour choices.
Participants should be aged 18 or older to attend. The sessions are led by Dylan Collard, who has been teaching the Noongar language since 2017, ensuring authentic and knowledgeable instruction. Please note that bookings are essential due to limited spaces. The City of Cockburn acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land and encourages respectful participation.
