What to Expect
Oaklands Reserve is a hidden gem in Marion, offering three distinct areas for families to explore and enjoy. From adventurous play in the nature-inspired playground to peaceful walks through the wetlands and energetic activities at the Recreation Plaza, there’s something for everyone.
Children can climb, balance, and explore natural play elements made from timber and rope, encouraging imagination and physical activity. Meanwhile, the wetlands provide a serene environment where visitors can learn about sustainable water management and observe native wildlife.
The Recreation Plaza energizes visitors with a skate park, mini-bike circuit, parkour area, and basketball/netball courts, perfect for active kids and teens looking to move their way.
Activity Details
The Oaklands Wetlands offer free guided tours on the second Thursday of every month from 10:00 to 11:00, led by expert guide David Jarman. These tours provide an educational experience about the natural water treatment system and local biodiversity.
The playground features multiple play zones spread beneath mature trees, including balancing logs, climbing frames, swings, and a low ropes course, ideal for children to create their own adventures.
The Recreation Plaza is designed for all ages and abilities, with features like ramps and embankments for skateboarders and a mini-bike circuit for younger riders.
