What to Expect

Experience a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere at Manly Library's Open Mic Night, where community members aged 16 and over can share their original songs, poetry, storytelling, impressions, or comedy. Whether you’re performing or simply enjoying the show, this event offers a unique opportunity to connect with local talent in a supportive environment.

Performers have up to 10 minutes on stage with a corded microphone and optional backing tracks, making it perfect for a variety of acts. The audience is encouraged to be respectful and mindful, creating a safe and inclusive space for all.

This event is ideal for youth and adults alike, with parental supervision recommended for children due to occasional adult themes or language.

Activity Details

Open Mic Night takes place monthly on Fridays from 17:30 to 19:00, running from June through October 2025. Sign-up for performers begins at 17:00 on the night of the event at Manly Library.

Performers must be at least 16 years old and are asked to keep their performances within a 10-minute limit to allow everyone a chance to participate. A bell will signal when 9 minutes have passed.

The library provides a small raised stage, a microphone stand, and a chair. Backing tracks can be connected via an AUX cord.

Location and Access

The event is held at Manly Library, located at 1 Market Place, Manly NSW 2095. The ground floor space is accessible for both audience members and performers, ensuring everyone can comfortably attend.

Manly Library is a community hub easily reachable by public transport and offers a welcoming environment for all ages.

Important Information

This is a free, drop-in event with sign-up available on the night from 5pm. The library expects all participants and audience members to respect the inclusive and safe space guidelines.

Performers are asked to avoid excessive swearing; failure to comply may result in being unplugged.

Parental supervision is advised for children attending due to the potential for adult themes or coarse language during performances.

There is no cost to attend or perform at Open Mic Night. Simply arrive early to sign up if you wish to perform.
