What to Expect
Spend a refreshing morning outdoors planting native species at the beautiful Upper Field River-Kauwi marnirla. This event is perfect for those passionate about the environment or anyone looking to make a positive impact in their local community.
You’ll have the chance to meet like-minded people, share stories, and contribute to restoring biodiversity in this special natural area. After planting, enjoy some food and friendly conversation with fellow volunteers.
No prior experience is needed, just bring your enthusiasm and willingness to get your hands a little dirty!
Activity Details
This planting day is designed for young adults aged 18 to 30 and members of the Friends of Upper Field River. The event runs from 09:00 to 11:00 on Saturday, 23 May 2026.
Please bring a drink bottle, gardening gloves (some spares will be available), and wear weather-appropriate clothing including closed-toe shoes for safety.
This is a free event but bookings are required to participate. It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn new skills, connect with nature, and contribute to local conservation efforts.
Location and Access
The event takes place at Barton Drive Reserve, South of Barton Drive, accessed via Woodend Road, Trott Park, 5158.
The reserve is a lovely natural setting ideal for outdoor activities and community gatherings. Parking and access details will be provided upon booking.
This location is perfect for families and individuals who enjoy spending time in green spaces and want to help protect local wildlife habitats.
Important Information
This event is a partnership between the Friends of Upper Field River, Co-Exist, and the City of Marion.
Co-Exist is a nationwide youth movement focused on environmental conservation and community building.
Participants should be aged 18 to 30 years and prepared for outdoor conditions. Closed-toe shoes and suitable clothing are essential for safety.
