Immerse yourself in a warm, family-friendly evening where art and culture come together to celebrate Reconciliation Week. Aunty Ros Cameron, a proud Arrernte woman, will share her story and cultural knowledge, guiding participants through a creative workshop focused on painting native botanicals. This event invites you to slow down, listen, and connect with Country through art and meaningful conversation.
No prior painting experience is necessary; all you need is an open heart and a willingness to create. Enjoy native-ingredient biscuits, a comforting cuppa, and a mug of soup as you engage in this reflective and inspiring session.
This event is perfect for parents and children alike, with the requirement that children be accompanied by a paying adult, ensuring a supportive and inclusive environment for all.
Activity Details
The workshop offers a unique opportunity to learn about native plants and their significance through hands-on artistic expression. Participants will create their own botanical artwork inspired by the rich cultural heritage of the Adelaide Hills region. The session encourages sharing stories and reflections related to Reconciliation Week, fostering a deeper understanding and connection.

Location and Access
The event takes place at The Summit Community Centre, located at 4 Crescent Dr, Norton Summit SA 5136. The centre offers accessible facilities including disabled toilets, baby change tables, and wheelchair-friendly entrances.
Parking is limited on-site, so carpooling is encouraged. Additional parking is available along Crescent Drive near Norton Summit Primary School and behind Norton Summit CFS, with a short walk to the venue. For evening events, bringing a torch or phone light is recommended due to limited lighting in the area.
The community centre is inclusive and welcoming to all, including LGBTQI+ individuals and families, with breastfeeding facilities and a dementia-friendly environment.
Important Information
Please note that children must be accompanied by a paying adult to attend this family-friendly event. The Summit Community Centre operates Monday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and is closed on Fridays and public holidays.
In the event of Extreme or Catastrophic Fire Danger Ratings for the Mt Lofty Ranges, the centre will close and all programs will be cancelled without notice. Paid fees will be reimbursed or the course rescheduled.
Attendees are encouraged to dress for cooler weather and bring an umbrella if attending in winter. Facilities include a kitchen with a microwave, kettle, and fridge for warming meals and drinks.
Booking and Prices
Tickets for the Reconciliation Week Cultural Evening are priced at $15 per person. Booking is required and can be completed online through the Adelaide Hills Council events page.
Early booking is recommended due to limited seating and parking availability. This fee includes all materials for the workshop as well as refreshments featuring native ingredients.
