What to Expect
Remembrance Day is a solemn occasion dedicated to honouring all Australians who have served, suffered, or died in wars, conflicts, and peace operations. This event marks the anniversary of the 1918 Armistice that ended fighting in the First World War. Families and community members gather to pay their respects through speeches, a wreath-laying ceremony, and a minute of silence.
The City of Yarra hosts this annual service at the Barkly Gardens War Memorial, creating a reflective and respectful atmosphere. Richmond RSL partners in the commemoration, ensuring a meaningful tribute to those who sacrificed for peace.
This event is a poignant opportunity for parents to bring their school-aged children to learn about Australia's history and the importance of remembrance.
