Repair Lab Melville invites families to breathe new life into their broken household items with the help of experienced volunteers. This free community event encourages sustainability by reducing waste and promoting repair skills in a friendly, supportive environment.
At Repair Lab, you'll find volunteers ready to assist with repairing small electrical appliances, textiles, shoes, furniture, bicycles, and more. While some items may be beyond repair, volunteers will provide advice and do their best to fix your belongings free of charge. A Buy Nothing Market also operates, allowing you to drop off or take home items for free, fostering a sharing community spirit.
This is a drop-in event with no need to register. Repairs are done on a first come, first served basis, and only one item can be repaired per visit to ensure everyone has a chance. Volunteers encourage you to stay and chat during the repair to learn useful skills. Please note dogs are not permitted, and repair expertise may vary.
The event takes place at the City of Melville EcoHub, located at 555 Leach Highway, Winthrop WA 6150. The venue is accessible and well-signposted, making it easy for families to attend. Parking is available nearby, and public transport options serve the area.
Please stay with your volunteer repairer for the duration of your repair to engage and learn. Only one item per person can be repaired at a time, so multiple items require rejoining the queue. Unclaimed items from the Buy Nothing Market should be taken back home to keep the space tidy. The event is dog-free to maintain a safe environment.
This event is completely free and open to all ages. No bookings are required, making it easy for busy parents to drop in with their children. Repairs are offered on a first come, first served basis, so arriving early is recommended to secure your spot.
