Repair Lab Melville invites families to breathe new life into their broken household items with the help of skilled volunteer repairers. This engaging event encourages sustainability by reducing waste and promoting repair skills in a friendly, community-focused environment.
At this free drop-in event, volunteers will attempt to repair a variety of household items including small electrical appliances, textiles, shoes, furniture, bicycles, and stands. While not all items can be fixed, volunteers will provide advice and support to help you understand repair possibilities. A Buy Nothing Market also operates alongside, where you can drop off or pick up items for free, promoting reuse and community sharing.
- No registration is required; service is on a first come, first served basis.
- Only one item can be repaired per visit to ensure everyone has a chance.
- Volunteers bring their time, tools, and skills to assist with repairs.
- Please stay with your volunteer repairer during the repair to learn and chat.
- Dogs are not permitted at the event.
The event is held at the City of Melville EcoHub, located at 555 Leach Highway, Winthrop WA 6150. The venue is accessible by car and public transport, with clear directions available. This community hub is a welcoming space dedicated to environmental education and sustainability.
Please note that some items may be beyond the volunteers’ skillset and a successful repair cannot be guaranteed. If your item cannot be repaired, volunteers will offer advice on next steps. Unclaimed items from the Buy Nothing Market should be taken back by donors to keep the space tidy and respectful.
This is a free event with no bookings required. Arrive early to secure your spot as repairs are handled on a first come, first served basis. The event runs from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM on multiple dates throughout 2026, making it easy to fit into your family schedule.
