Repair Lab Melville invites families to breathe new life into their broken household items with the help of skilled volunteers. This free drop-in event encourages sustainability by reducing waste and promoting repair over disposal.
At Repair Lab, volunteers will assist with repairing a variety of household items including small electrical appliances, textiles, shoes, furniture, bicycles, and more. While not all items can be fixed, the volunteers will do their best using their skills, tools, and time. Visitors can also explore the Buy Nothing Market, where items can be dropped off or taken away for free.
This event is open to all ages and requires no prior booking—just come along and join the queue. Each visitor can have one item repaired at a time to ensure everyone gets a chance. Please stay with your volunteer repairer during the repair to learn useful skills and chat. Note that dogs are not permitted at the event.
Held at the City of Melville EcoHub, located at 555 Leach Highway, Winthrop WA 6150, the venue is accessible and welcoming. The EcoHub is a community-focused environmental education centre, making it a perfect spot for families interested in sustainability and community activities.
Repairs are offered free of charge, but some items may be beyond the volunteers' expertise. If an item cannot be repaired, advice will be provided. The Buy Nothing Market encourages responsible sharing—please take back any unclaimed items when you leave. The event runs on a first come, first served basis.
