Experience the vibrant atmosphere of the RTRFM Neon Picnic, a beloved annual event now in its 9th year. This free family-friendly gathering invites you to relax on the lush grass of Hyde Park while enjoying live performances from RTRFM's popular shows and special musical guests. The event is perfect for families looking for a fun day out filled with music, creativity, and tasty treats.
Kids will be delighted with a variety of activities including arts and crafts led by the creative team at Art Jam and an engaging zine-making workshop with Emiko Watanabe. Foodies can indulge in a wide selection of offerings such as coffee from Wiling Property Group’s coffee cart, beer from Whitelakes Brewing, wine from Blind Corner, and delicious meals from Kitchen and Barrel. Don’t miss the classic sausage sizzle by Mondo Butchers and the much-loved RTRFM bake sale.
The event is proudly supported by the City of Vincent and several local sponsors, ensuring a welcoming and safe environment for all, including the LGBTIQA+ community.
The Neon Picnic runs from 11:00 to 17:00 on Saturday, 21 March 2026. The live radio shows featured include Global Rhythm Pot, Homegrown, and Drastic on Plastic, with performances by Australian Critters, Bella Dyer, Juliana Areias & Friends - The New Brazilian Wave, Sgt Hulka, and the West Australian Youth Jazz Orchestra (WAYJO).
Children’s activities are scheduled throughout the day, providing plenty of opportunities for creative engagement. Food and drink vendors will be available on-site, offering a variety of refreshments and snacks to keep everyone energized.
This event is suitable for all ages, making it an ideal outing for families with school-aged children looking to enjoy a cultural and musical experience together.
The event takes place at Hyde Park, a central and easily accessible green space in Perth. Visitors can enjoy the natural beauty of the park while participating in the day’s festivities.
