Discover the art of HITOME-ZASHI, a stunning form of Sashiko embroidery that creates intricate geometric patterns through vertical, horizontal, and diagonal stitches. This workshop offers a hands-on experience where you can choose between two classic patterns: KAKI-NO-HANA, symbolizing the persimmon flower, and KOME-ZASHI, resembling the Japanese kanji for rice.
Whether you're a beginner or have some stitching experience, this adult workshop welcomes all skill levels. You'll not only learn the stitching techniques but also how to transform your work into a charming brooch, perfect for gifting or personal wear.
All essential materials including fabric, thread, brooch parts, and instructions are provided, so you can focus on enjoying the creative process. If you have your own Sashiko needle and thread clippers, feel free to bring them along, or purchase needles on-site.
The workshop is led by Jun from Sashiko Adelaide, an expert passionate about sharing this traditional Japanese craft. You will be guided step-by-step through the basics of HITOME-ZASHI stitching and the specific patterns.
