Are you an ‘experienced beginner’ knitter looking for your next knitting project? This workshop offers a wonderful opportunity to learn new techniques and complete your first 'Sophie Scarf' with the help of Rebecca from Augustbird. It's a fun and informative session designed to inspire creativity and skill development.
You will be guided through knitting the Sophie Scarf, a beautiful pattern worked back and forth in garter stitch with built-in i-cord edges. Rebecca will provide support during the workshop and is available for questions as you continue your scarf at home. Attendees will receive a PDF of the pattern before the event and have access to printed copies on the day. Both pattern formats are yours to keep after completing the workshop.
The scarf pattern comes in two sizes: a smaller size that wraps once around the neck and a larger size that can wrap twice. You will need 3.5 mm circular or straight needles and suitable yarn, with several cashmere options recommended. Rebecca’s hand-dyed yarn is available for purchase in advance via her website. Please bring your wool, needles, and notions such as a row counter or pen and paper; stitch markers are optional.
This workshop will be held at 63 Mount Barker Rd, Stirling SA 5152, Australia, within the Adelaide Hills Council region. The venue is accessible and part of the local library, making it a convenient and welcoming space for community learning and craft activities.
Please note that events may be cancelled on days with Catastrophic or Extreme Fire Danger Ratings in the Mt Lofty Ranges. In such cases, all library branches will close, and events will be cancelled without notice. Paid fees will be reimbursed or the event rescheduled. Check current fire danger ratings at the Bureau of Meteorology website.
Tickets are priced at $10 and can be booked online. This event is part of the Adelaide Hills Council Libraries' 2026 History Weekend, promising a weekend full of learning, play, and craft. Don’t miss this chance to develop your knitting skills in a friendly community environment.
