Unleash your child's creativity this school holiday with a fun and engaging acrylic painting workshop. Kids aged 5 and above will have the chance to design their own unique creatures on wooden blocks, combining art with imaginative play.
This hands-on activity encourages children to explore different animal forms by painting various body parts on multiple wooden blocks. The blocks can then be stacked in endless combinations to create fantastical animals, sparking endless fun and creativity.
Perfect for parents looking for a creative and educational activity that keeps kids entertained and inspired during the school break.
During the workshop, children will learn basic drawing and painting techniques tailored for wooden surfaces. They will work on three wooden blocks, painting different animal body parts on all four sides of each block.
The session runs for 1.5 hours, providing ample time for kids to complete their artwork and enjoy the creative process. The workshop is suitable for children aged 5 and older, making it accessible for a wide range of school-aged kids.
Materials including wooden blocks and acrylic paints are provided, so parents don’t need to worry about bringing supplies.
The workshop takes place at the Torrens Valley Community Centre, located at 45 Albert St, Gumeracha SA 5233. The centre is part of the Community Hub, which also includes the Gumeracha Town Hall and library.
Parking is convenient with multiple areas around the community hub, including disabled parking spaces. The venue is wheelchair accessible with ramps and disabled toilets available.
Families can easily access the centre by car, and there is ample parking for buses or mini vans near the Gumeracha sporting oval.
The community centre is open Monday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and closed on Fridays and public holidays. In case of Extreme or Catastrophic Fire Danger Ratings for the Mt Lofty Ranges, the centre will close and all programs will be cancelled with refunds or rescheduling offered.
Parents are advised to dress children appropriately for the weather and bring a torch or phone light if attending evening events. The centre is inclusive, welcoming everyone including LGBTQI+ families and offering breastfeeding-friendly facilities.
Facilities include toilets (including disabled), baby change tables, a fully equipped kitchen, and a safe, welcoming environment for all participants.
Tickets for the workshop cost $10 per child and must be booked online in advance. This affordable price includes all materials needed for the painting activity.
Booking early is recommended to secure a spot as places may be limited. For enquiries, parents can contact the Torrens Valley Community Centre by phone at 8389 1711 or email tvcc@ahc.sa.gov.au during opening hours.
