Get ready for a fun and creative afternoon where your child can design and hand sew their very own softie character. Whether funny, spooky, cute, or completely original, this workshop encourages imagination and hands-on learning.
Using simple hand-stitching techniques, children will experiment with shapes, colours, and details to bring their softie to life. This event is perfect for beginners and creative kids aged 11 to 14.
All materials are provided, so no prior sewing experience is needed—just enthusiasm and creativity!
This workshop is led by Trixi Symonds, a seasoned designer and sewing educator with over thirty years of experience teaching children to sew. She is the founder of the international Sew a Softie initiative and author of the Sew a Softie Workbook No.3.
The session runs for one hour, providing a focused and engaging environment for kids to learn and create.
Bookings are essential and open from Tuesday 9 June at 9:30 am. This is a free event exclusively for children aged 11-14 years.
The workshop takes place at the Margaret Martin Library, located on Level 1 of the Royal Randwick Shopping Centre, Belmore Road, Randwick.

Parents or carers must sign children in and out if they are in school years 3-6, ensuring a safe and secure environment.
Please arrive 10 minutes early to allow the event to start on time. Latecomers cannot be admitted after the start time for safety and enjoyment reasons.
Participants must be library members to attend; membership is free and can be obtained online or at any branch.
Covid-safe measures are in place, and attendees agree to terms and conditions including possible digital recording for promotional use.
This is a free event, but bookings are essential due to limited spaces. Tickets can be booked online through Eventbrite starting 9 June at 9:30 am.
