Take flight these school holidays with our Paper Plane Workshop! This hands-on, creativity-packed session invites children to explore the fun world of paper plane design, testing their skills in both distance and precision challenges. Kids will learn step-by-step folding techniques, experiment with different plane styles, and discover the basics of aerodynamics through playful, STEM-inspired activities.
With guidance from Julius and support from Bob Brooksby at the hall, participants will build, refine, and fly their creations in a safe, structured, and exciting environment. The program includes two activities: a Flight Distance Challenge where planes are launched to see how far they can fly, and a Target Challenge aiming for point-marked targets in friendly competition.
Children will build confidence, fine motor skills, social connection, and teamwork while enjoying school holiday fun. All materials are provided, and every child takes home new skills and their planes at the end. Whether your child is a seasoned paper-plane engineer or brand new to folding, this workshop offers creativity, discovery, and plenty of laughs along the way.
The workshop is designed for children aged 6 and above and runs for 2.5 hours. It includes step-by-step instructions on folding techniques, experimentation with different plane styles, and fun challenges that encourage friendly competition and skill development.
Participants will engage in two main activities: the Flight Distance Challenge, where distances are measured and added to a leaderboard, and the Target Challenge, where kids aim for point-marked targets in three rounds with scores tallied for overall rankings.
This session fosters teamwork, social interaction, and confidence building in a supportive environment. All necessary materials are supplied, and children leave with their handmade paper planes and new skills.
The event takes place at 45 Albert St, Gumeracha SA 5233, Australia, within the Torrens Valley Community Centre. The centre is part of the Community Hub, which also includes the Gumeracha Town Hall and library.
