As Drum Theatre marks its 20th anniversary in 2026, this special event invites you to contribute your personal stories and experiences to a lasting oral history collection. It's a wonderful opportunity for families to connect with the theatre's rich legacy and help preserve its impact on the community for future generations.
Join a welcoming community recording session where you can share meaningful moments, people, and experiences related to the Drum Theatre. Whether you've been involved for many years or recently connected, your story matters. These sessions are relaxed and facilitated by professional historians to ensure your memories are captured with care.
The sessions are held on two dates: Thursday 6 August from 12:00pm to 3:00pm, and Thursday 13 August from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. Each session follows a friendly format where participants are guided through sharing their stories. No prior experience is necessary, and all stories, big or small, are welcomed.
The event takes place at Drum Theatre, located at the corner of Lonsdale and Walker Streets in Dandenong. The venue is accessible and family-friendly, making it easy for parents and children to attend together. Parking and public transport options are available nearby.
This is a free event, but registration is required to participate in the recording sessions.
