What to Expect
Immerse yourself in a welcoming and creative environment where you can sew, crochet, embroider, or simply craft and socialise with others who share your passion for textiles. This group encourages reusing, repurposing, and repairing materials to reduce waste and support sustainability.
Whether you bring your own project or join a group craft initiative, you’ll find a supportive community eager to share skills and ideas. A basic crafting knowledge is helpful, and mentors may be available to guide or troubleshoot.
Enjoy access to sewing machines, an overlocker, and shared consumables like buttons and needles, plus kitchen facilities for tea and coffee.
Activity Details
Sessions run from 14:00 to 17:00 on selected dates throughout 2026, allowing you to drop in and leave at your convenience within the three-hour timeframe. Three sewing machines and one overlocker are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so sharing is encouraged.
Please bring your own sewing consumables if possible, although some are available to share. Note that for safety, BYO electrical equipment must be tested and tagged by a licensed electrician.
The City of Melville hosts two free Test and Tag sessions annually for regular group members.
