What to Expect

This engaging 4-week course is designed for youth aged 16 and above who want to learn how to craft their own songs from scratch. Throughout the course, you'll have hands-on opportunities to develop your unique style and express your emotions through music. At the end, there's a special chance to record your song with professional support, making this a truly rewarding experience.

Activity Details
The course runs over four consecutive Thursdays from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, starting June 4, 2026. Each session builds on the last, so attending all four is highly recommended to get the full benefit.
Sessions cover:
- Writing meaningful lyrics that capture your message

- Developing chord progressions and arranging your song
- Preparing for a recording session after the course
Spaces are limited, so booking ahead is essential. This is a hands-on workshop, so come ready to create and collaborate.
Location and Access
The course takes place at the Old Midland Courthouse, located at 49 Helena Street, Midland WA 6056. The venue is accessible and situated in a convenient location within Midland.
There is ample parking nearby and public transport options for easy access. The historic courthouse provides a welcoming atmosphere perfect for creative learning.
Participants are encouraged to arrive a few minutes early to settle in before each session starts.

Photography and videography may be conducted during the sessions for promotional use by the City of Swan and event organizers.
