What to Expect
Soundmakrz is a vibrant weekly music program designed especially for young people in Years 7 to 10. It offers a safe and welcoming space where participants can build friendships, express themselves, and develop their musical talents regardless of their experience or instrument.
Each session is led by professional musicians who guide and support the group, helping young people grow in confidence and discover the joy of making music together. This program is about more than just music; it fosters connection, creativity, and overall well-being.
Whether your child is a beginner or has some experience, they will find encouragement and inspiration in this inclusive environment.
Activity Details
The program runs weekly on Tuesdays starting from 17 February 2026 and continues through Term 4 with sessions on 24 February, 3 March, 10 March, 17 March, 24 March, and 31 March.
There are two time slots to accommodate different age groups: Year 7-8 students meet at 17:30 and Year 9-10 students meet at 18:15. Participants are encouraged to bring their own instruments if they have one.
This is a free program, making it accessible for all young people interested in music and community.
Location and Access
Sessions take place at Oxygen Youth Space, located at 4 - 8 Gaffney Street, Coburg North.
The venue is conveniently accessible by public transport:
- Tram: Just a 1-minute walk from the #37 tram stop at Gaffney Street/Sydney Road.
- Train: A 5-minute walk from Batman train station on the Upfield line.
This central location makes it easy for families across Merri-bek and surrounding areas to attend.
