Step into a welcoming space where conversations about the end of life are embraced openly and without judgment. Facilitated by experienced funeral celebrant Klara McMurray, these sessions invite you to share, listen, and connect over a comforting cuppa. Whether you are curious, seeking empowerment, or simply want to be present, this is a unique opportunity to explore a topic that touches us all.
Expect small group discussions with no set agenda or themes, allowing your thoughts and feelings to guide the conversation naturally. Lucky, the friendly workshop dog, may also be there to offer some extra comfort and companionship.
The Death Cafe sessions are held monthly on Wednesdays at the St Kilda Library, running for two hours each time. These gatherings are not grief support or counseling sessions but rather a safe, open forum to talk about death and dying in a relaxed environment.
If you or someone close to you is experiencing a terminal illness, the library encourages you to get in touch to ensure your place at the session. The events are wheelchair accessible and the facilitators are happy to accommodate any additional needs to make your experience comfortable.
The sessions take place at the St Kilda Library, part of the Port Phillip Library Service, located in Melbourne. The venue is wheelchair accessible, ensuring everyone can participate comfortably. For any special accessibility requirements, the library staff are ready to assist upon request.
You can reserve your spot by booking online or calling the library directly. These events are free but have limited capacity, so early booking is recommended.
