Experience a refreshed and welcoming St Kilda Library soon after its temporary closure. The library is undergoing exciting upgrades including new furniture and improved spaces designed to enhance your visit. Whether you come to read, study, or connect, the upgraded environment will offer more comfort and functionality.
During the closure, you can still access other library branches and enjoy digital collections 24/7. A Click and Collect service will be available on weekdays at St Kilda Library, ensuring you can pick up your reserved items with ease.
The closure runs from Monday 20 July until Sunday 26 July, with reopening on Monday 27 July. Key improvements include:
- New lounge seating near the entrance for a cozy, relaxing atmosphere
- New tables and chairs throughout for flexible study, work, or social spaces
- An upgraded and relocated customer service desk for faster service
- Installation of shared study benches with privacy screens and extra power points for focused work
Limited Wi-Fi and seating will be available in the foyer during open hours, and public bathrooms remain accessible.
St Kilda Library, part of the Port Phillip Library Service, will be temporarily closed during the upgrade period. Other library branches remain open and accessible. The Click and Collect service operates weekdays from 10:00 to 18:00 at St Kilda Library.
Digital collections remain available online 24/7, so you can continue enjoying ebooks, audiobooks, and other resources from home or on the go.
The library will be fully closed on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 July to allow safe completion of the upgrades. Please plan your visits accordingly.

No bookings are required for library visits or the Click and Collect service. All services remain free of charge, continuing the library’s commitment to accessible community resources.
