These classes are designed for first-time parents and those seeking a refresher, offering comprehensive guidance on labour, birth, and early parenting. Whether you're planning a natural or caesarean birth, these sessions provide valuable insights to prepare you confidently for your new arrival.
The classes cover a range of important topics including managing labour and birth, induction, possible complications, and emergency procedures. For those planning a caesarean birth, there is a dedicated session focusing on what to expect before, during, and after the procedure. You will also learn about newborn care, breastfeeding, safe sleeping, and emotional wellbeing.
- Labour, birth and early parenting weekend class: Saturday 08:15 to 16:00, Sunday 08:30 to 15:00
- Caesarean birth and early parenting class: Saturday only, 08:15 to 16:00
- Classes are small group sessions conducted by experienced midwives
- Recommended to book 4-6 weeks before your due date
Classes are held at St Vincent's Private Hospital Toowoomba, located at 22-36 Scott St, Toowoomba City QLD 4350. The hospital is easily accessible and provides a comfortable environment for learning and support. Parking and public transport options are available nearby.
Please book only one ticket per couple, as your partner or support person is included in the class. If your birth plan changes to a caesarean, contact the Dorothea Devine Maternity Unit reception to switch classes. Check with your health insurer to see if the cost is covered under your policy.
