Start your parenting journey with confidence through our expert-led classes designed for first-time parents and those seeking a refresher. These sessions provide essential knowledge and support to help you navigate labour, birth, and early parenting with ease.
Our small group classes are conducted by experienced midwives who cover a wide range of topics including managing labour and birth, induction, possible complications, and emergency procedures. We also offer specialized caesarean birth classes tailored to those planning this birth method. Expect a warm, supportive environment where you and your partner can learn together.
Choose between a full weekend class or a one-day caesarean-focused session. Weekend classes run Saturday 8:15am to 4:00pm and Sunday 8:30am to 3:00pm, while caesarean classes are held Saturdays from 8:15am to 4:00pm. Topics include newborn care, breastfeeding, safe sleeping, emotional wellbeing, and community support resources. Booking one ticket covers attendance for you and your support person.
Classes take place at St Vincent's Private Hospital Toowoomba, located at 22-36 Scott St, Toowoomba City QLD 4350. The hospital is easily accessible and provides a comfortable setting for learning. Parking and public transport options are available nearby.
We recommend booking your class 4-6 weeks before your due date to keep information fresh. If your birth plan changes to a caesarean, please contact the Dorothea Devine Maternity Unit to switch classes. Check with your health insurer to see if the class cost is covered under your policy. Only one ticket is needed per couple.
