Experience comprehensive parenting classes designed to prepare you for the exciting journey of childbirth and early parenting. These sessions are perfect for first-time parents or those seeking a refresher, offering expert guidance from experienced midwives.
These classes cover essential topics such as managing labour and birth, including assisted and emergency caesarean births, induction of labour, and possible complications. You will also learn about newborn characteristics, breastfeeding, safe sleeping guidelines, and emotional wellbeing during early parenting.
There are two main formats: a full weekend class running Saturday 08:15 to 16:00 and Sunday 08:30 to 15:00, and a one-day caesarean birth class on Saturday from 08:15 to 16:00. Each ticket includes attendance for you and your partner or support person. Booking is recommended 4-6 weeks before your due date to keep information fresh.
Classes are held at St Vincent's Private Hospital Toowoomba, located at 22-36 Scott St, Toowoomba City QLD 4350. The hospital is easily accessible and provides a welcoming environment for expectant parents.
If your birth plan changes to a caesarean, you can switch to the caesarean class by contacting the Dorothea Devine Maternity Unit reception. Check with your health insurer to see if the class cost is covered under your policy. Only one ticket per couple is required.
