Prepare yourself for the journey of parenthood with expert-led classes designed to support first-time parents and those seeking a refresher. These sessions cover everything from labour and birth to early parenting skills, ensuring you feel confident and informed.
Whether you are planning a vaginal birth or a caesarean, there are tailored classes to suit your needs. Expect a warm, supportive environment where you can ask questions and connect with other parents.
Our midwives bring their extensive experience to each class, helping you understand what to expect and how to navigate the early days with your newborn.
Classes are offered in small groups to provide personalized attention. The labour, birth, and early parenting class runs over a full weekend: Saturday from 08:15 to 16:00 and Sunday from 08:30 to 15:00.
For those planning a caesarean birth, a one-day class is available on Saturdays from 08:15 to 16:00. Topics include managing labour, birth complications, newborn care, breastfeeding, safe sleeping, and emotional wellbeing.
Booking is recommended about 4-6 weeks before your due date to keep the information fresh and relevant. Your partner or support person is welcome to attend with you at no extra cost.
Classes are held at St Vincent's Private Hospital Toowoomba, located at 22-36 Scott Street, Toowoomba City, QLD 4350. The hospital is easily accessible by car and public transport, with parking available on-site.
The venue offers a comfortable and welcoming setting, ideal for learning and preparing for your new arrival.
If your birth plan changes to a caesarean, you can easily switch to the appropriate class by contacting the maternity unit.
Please book only one ticket per family, as it includes attendance for you and your partner or support person.
