What to Expect
Get ready for an exciting term full of creativity and discovery at STEAM Club! Each week, children will dive into a new hands-on activity that explores the fascinating worlds of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Maths. This term's theme, Jungle Explorers, invites kids to imagine themselves navigating the jungle, creating tools to survive, and discovering volcanoes, exotic creatures, and the mighty Amazon River.
This engaging program is perfect for children aged 7 to 10 who love to tinker, explore, and discover. An adult will need to remain onsite to support children with additional needs, ensuring everyone has a fun and safe experience.
Activity Details
STEAM Club runs for 6 weeks during Term 2, with sessions held every Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 4:45 PM. The program covers a range of exciting topics including:
- Static Electricity: Jumping Frogs and Flapping Wings
- Simple Machines: Make a Zipline and a Pulley
- Volcano: Eruptions and Smoke Rings
- Sink and Float: Boat Building
- Strong Shapes: Bridge Building
- Minibeasts: Classifying Insects and Making Floating Insects
The full course costs $45.00 plus a booking fee for all six sessions, providing excellent value for a term of creative learning and fun.
Location and Access
The sessions take place at Toronto Library, tirrabiyangba, located at the corner of Brighton Avenue and Pemell Street, Toronto 2283. The library offers one accessible car park adjacent to the building on Brighton Avenue, with additional public parking available nearby at Woolworths.
Access to the library is convenient via a footbridge on Level 5, where accessible parking is also available. There is a 2-hour parking limit throughout most of the car park, except for levels 6 and 7 which have unlimited parking. The venue is accessible by bus and includes an accessible toilet in the corridor adjoining the library.
Important Information
Please be aware that this event may be photographed and filmed, and images could be used in advertising and promotion by Lake Macquarie City Council. If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed, please inform the event organisers upon entry.
An adult must remain onsite during the activity to support children, especially those with additional needs. The program is designed to be inclusive and engaging for all participants.
