What to Expect
Get ready for an exciting journey into the world of STEM with our popular STEM Kits at The Learning Space, Rhodes! These kits are designed to spark curiosity and creativity in children through hands-on activities involving coding, crafting, and experimenting with technology. Whether your child is a budding programmer or loves building gadgets, there’s something for every young mind.
Children can program an Ozobot to navigate mazes, bring gadgets to life with a micro:bit, or even design their own video game using GameGo. The kits cater to a wide range of ages, ensuring that every child finds an engaging challenge.
Activity Details
The STEM Kits collection includes Magformers for ages 3+, Ozobot and Make Do for ages 5+, Makey Makey and Little Bird Shakey for ages 7+, and micro:bit, Move Motor, Klef Piano, and GameGo for ages 8+. Older children can explore Pathfinders Hydraulics designed for ages 10+.
You can borrow up to three kits per library membership card for a three-week loan period. Availability is limited, so it’s best to plan ahead and borrow early during the school holiday periods.
Location and Access
All STEM Kits are available exclusively at The Learning Space, Rhodes. You can pick up and return the kits at this location. The Learning Space provides an ideal environment for families to explore STEM resources and get inspired.
For additional support, there are online resources with guides and tutorials to help you and your children get started with the kits easily.
Important Information
The STEM Kits are available from the first weekend of each school holiday period in 2026. The school holiday dates are:
- Term 1: 2026-04-07 to 2026-04-19
- Term 2: 2026-07-04 to 2026-07-19
- Term 3: 2026-09-26 to 2026-10-11
- Term 4: 2026-12-18 to 2027-02-03
Please note that borrowing is subject to availability and limited to three kits per membership card. Make sure to sign up for a Canada Bay Libraries membership if you don’t have one—it’s free!
Booking and Prices
The STEM Kits are free to borrow with your Canada Bay Libraries membership card. There is no cost involved, making it an accessible and valuable resource for families.
Kits are available on a first-come, first-served basis from the start of each school holiday period, so mark your calendar and plan your visit accordingly to secure your preferred kits.
