These sessions include interactive songs, rhymes, and stories designed to foster a love of reading and language development. Parents and caregivers can enjoy connecting with their children and other families in a welcoming environment.
Storytimes are held in multiple locations including Albert Park, Emerald Hill, Port Melbourne, and St Kilda libraries, offering convenient options for families.
Special sessions include Community Language Storytimes in seven languages and Calm and Quiet Storytime for children with sensory sensitivities.
- Baby Rhymetime: For ages 0-18 months, featuring interactive play, rhyme, rhythm, and songs.
- Toddler Storytime: For ages 18 months to 3 years, with singing, dancing, and fun stories.
- Preschool Storytime: For ages 3 to 6 years, including picture books, songs, and rhymes.
- Community Language Storytimes: Available in Amharic, Arabic, Hindi, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish (not during school holidays).
- Calm and Quiet Storytime: For children aged 2-6 with sensory sensitivities or autism spectrum, requiring booking.
Sessions run weekly on various days and times depending on the location and age group.

- Community Language and Calm and Quiet Storytimes do not run during school holidays.
- Calm and Quiet Storytime sessions require advance booking due to limited numbers.
- Suitable for children from newborn to 6 years old, with sessions tailored to developmental stages.
- Parents and caregivers are encouraged to participate actively to model listening and language skills.
All Storytime sessions are free of charge. Bookings are only essential for Calm and Quiet Storytime sessions. For other sessions, attendance is generally on a first-come, first-served basis.
