What to Expect
Discover the exciting world of wheat pasting, a fast and expressive form of street art designed to be seen in public spaces. This workshop series offers young people a safe and positive space to share ideas, build skills, and express creativity alongside artist Maia Cavendish.
Across three engaging sessions, participants will explore collage, design, and urban art-making techniques. No prior experience is necessary—just bring your curiosity and creativity!
Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian, ensuring a supportive environment for all attendees.
Activity Details
Workshop 1 focuses on designing artwork for wheat pasting through collage and hands-on activities, encouraging playful exploration of shapes, images, and textures.
Workshop 2 teaches participants how to scale up their designs using print-based techniques, emphasizing impact, teamwork, and confidence as the group begins co-designing final artworks.
Workshop 3 culminates in finishing and installing the artworks at Burpengary Sports Complex using wheat paste, giving participants the thrill of seeing their creations come to life in a real public space.
Location and Access
All workshops take place at Burpengary Community Hall, located at 101-121 Station Road, Burpengary 4505. The venue is wheelchair accessible, ensuring inclusivity for all participants.
The final installation will be at Burpengary Sports Complex, providing a vibrant public canvas for the artworks.
Important Information
This event is suitable for young people aged 26 and under. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian.
Workshops run on Sundays in March 2026 with specific times for each session:
- 8 March: 13:00 to 14:30
- 15 March: 13:00 to 14:30
- 22 March: 10:00 to 11:30
The program is free of charge, encouraging accessibility for all interested youth.
Booking and Prices
Attendance is free, but booking is required for each workshop to secure your place. Bookings can be made online through the City of Moreton Bay event page.
