Activity Details
The Sydney Science Trail runs from 15 to 23 August 2026, featuring school excursions from 17 to 21 August. The primary program (Years 3–6) is held on 17 and 18 August, while the secondary program (Years 7–11) takes place from 19 to 21 August. Diverse Learner Sessions are available for students with additional needs.
Each student pays $25 (including GST) for a full day of activities between 9:30am and 2:30pm. Activities include a science expo, live science shows or scientist panels, interactive STEM workshops, and teacher-led gallery or garden experiences.
Family Community Days occur on 15 and 22 August, offering free interactive science festivals with hands-on activities and nature experiences suitable for all ages.
Location and Access
Events are hosted at the Australian Museum, located at 1 William Street, Sydney NSW 2010, and the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney. Both venues are easily accessible by public transport and offer family-friendly facilities.
The Australian Museum is open daily from 10am to 5pm, with free general entry. Parking options and accessibility services are available to ensure a comfortable visit for all families.
The Botanic Gardens provide a beautiful outdoor setting for workshops and nature experiences, perfect for exploring science in the environment.

Bookings are essential for school excursions and workshops, with early access bookings currently available. Full program details and registration open in Term 2 of 2026.
Diverse Learner Sessions cater to homeschool groups, support classes, EAL/D students, and those with diverse needs, offering flexible timetables and higher educator-to-student ratios.
The Science Social event on 19 August from 17:30 to 20:30 is a free after-hours gathering for science enthusiasts, featuring live music, pop-up exhibits, and networking opportunities.
