What to Expect
This engaging program is designed specifically for Mandarin-speaking seniors eager to enhance their digital literacy. Participants will learn essential skills such as navigating smartphones, desktop computers, and online safety in a supportive and friendly environment.
Each session builds on the previous one, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of digital tools and online communication. The classes are paced to suit beginners and those with limited experience.
Priority is given to residents within the Strathfield local government area, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own smartphones or tablets for some sessions, although laptops and tablets will be provided.
Activity Details
The course runs over three weeks with five sessions in total, each lasting two hours from 10:00 to 12:00. Topics include:
- Week 1: Introduction to cyber safety and email basics
- Week 2: Social media introduction and managing digital assets
- Week 3: Sharing photos and attachments online
Participants must attend all sessions to benefit fully from the course. Booking is essential due to limited spaces.
Location and Access
Classes are held at Strathfield Library, located at 65-67 Rochester Street, Homebush 2140. The venue is accessible and welcoming, with public transport options nearby.
The library provides desktop computers and tablets for use during the sessions. Participants are encouraged to bring their own devices to maximize learning.
