Dive into the creative world of clay with our Teens Clay Studio, designed specifically for young artists aged 12 and up. This three-day series offers an exciting opportunity to develop wheelthrowing skills while exploring handbuilding techniques in a relaxed and encouraging setting. Whether your teen is a beginner or has some experience, they will find inspiration and support to express their creativity.
Throughout the sessions, students will work alongside artist Machiko Motoi and other instructors, gaining hands-on experience with foundational wheelthrowing methods and safe studio practices. The environment encourages independent thinking and experimentation, allowing each teen to develop their own unique style and ideas.
This program is perfect for teens who love making things with their hands and want to embrace the unpredictable, rewarding process of working with clay. They can bring their own inspirational images or use those provided to spark their imagination.
The workshop runs over three consecutive days: Monday 28 September, Tuesday 29 September, and Wednesday 30 September 2026, each session from 13:15 to 16:15. Teens can choose to attend individual sessions or book all three for a comprehensive learning experience.
Participants will learn wheelthrowing basics, handbuilding techniques such as joining handles, and designing their clay pieces. The studio encourages safe practices and provides a supportive atmosphere where teens can grow their skills progressively.
Please ensure your teen wears an apron or old comfortable clothes and closed-in shoes. They should bring snacks, a water bottle, and a jacket. For those attending full days, packing lunch is recommended.
