Experience a deeply moving theatrical production that explores the aftermath of war through the tender relationship between a father and daughter in Hiroshima. This acclaimed Japanese play, translated into English, offers a powerful narrative filled with courage, love, and the challenge of embracing the past.

What to Expect

The Face of Jizo is set in Hiroshima three years after the atomic bombing, focusing on Mitsue, a young librarian, and her father Takezo. Audiences will witness their emotional reunion and the struggles of survivor's guilt intertwined with moments of familial humour. The performance lasts approximately 95 minutes without an interval and includes a 15-minute post-show Q&A with the creative team, providing an insightful opportunity for students to engage with the themes and production.

Location and Access

The performances take place at the Reginald Theatre within the Seymour Centre, located at Cnr City Rd and Cleveland St, Chippendale NSW 2008. The venue is accessible by public transport and offers nearby dining options. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early to allow time for seating and to experience the venue's COVID-safe measures.

Important Information

Tickets for students are priced at $26 each, with one teacher admitted free per 10 students; additional teachers are charged $26 each. Full payment is due by 9 July 2025. School bookings from 13 August 2025 should be made by contacting the Box Office directly. Photography and filming during the performance are prohibited to respect the production and audience experience.
